High-Speed Arabian Drift Attempt Ends With Wheel Snapping Off

Nowadays, roads are filled with bruised egos of countless drivers who mess up while trying to draw attention to themselves. Add high speed to that equation and you’re looking at an accident waiting to happen.

It looks like this happened somewhere in the Middle East, where drivers are particularly fond of high-speed highway powersliding, a phenomena also known as Arab Drifting or Saudi Drifting.

The goal here is to get up to speed, sometimes in excess of 200 km/h (124 mph) and then begin throwing the car left and right, using opposite lock to keep things under the control. And yes, it’s highly illegal.

Yet, the Internet is riddled with these types of videos, many of which have ended in light to massive crashes. Since these cars are mostly stock, the driver doesn’t benefit from any extra protection should something go wrong.

Here, we have a perfect example of what could happen during one of these illegal exhibitions. From afar, it looks as though the right-rear wheel just broke off without any apparent impact to speak of. Then again, there’s no telling what state that car was already in – people don’t really tend to drift very pricey or well-maintained vehicles down there.

Thankfully, the driver was unharmed, despite losing control of the vehicle at what appears to be a very unsafe speed.
