Lost a wad? Police seek owner of 'significant amount' of cash

Police have launched a public appeal to locate the legitimate owner of a "significant amount" of cash found in Perth's northern suburbs.

Mirrabooka detectives are trying to identify the owner of the money found in Yirrigan Drive on December 17 last year.

Police say certain details about the discovery are being withheld to ensure the rightful owner can identify the money.

"A large amount of money has been handed in," Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Wright told WAtoday.

"It is very unusual and we are yet to identity where the money has come from.

"We are trying to identify the legitimate owner."
