Congress march to Pragathi Bhavan ends in custody

HYDERABAD: State Congress leaders on Monday called upon youth in Telangana to throw out the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS government even as the police took into custody hundreds of Youth Congress leaders including its national president Keshav Chand Yadav, state president Anil Kumar Yadav and former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy after they tried to march towards Pragati Bhavan, the camp office-cum-residence of CM KCR.

Tension prevailed at Nampally near Gandhi Bhavan as leaders attending the Youth Congress-organised ‘Bharat Bachao Jan Andolan’ gave a call for “Chalo Pragathi Bhavan” in protest against IT minister KT Rama Rao having used words like “bomma (doll)” against Sonia Gandhi. Party seniors along with youth wing leaders demanded the ouster of dictatorial rule of CM KCR.

Former ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Md Ali Shabbir, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi, treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said CM KCR extending support to PM Narendra Modi’s proposal for simultaneous polls to Lok Sabha and State Assemblies has exposed the “tacit understanding between TRS and BJP.”

Komatireddy said, “KTR is speaking with arrogance. Sonia Gandhi had given statehood to Telangana after youth started committing suicides. It is the youth who should defeat KTR and TRS. The Congress should give tickets to youth having winning chances,” he said. Komatireddy called upon the youth not to be intimidated by TRS tactics of unleashing police power against them.

Youth Congress state president Anil Kumar Yadav said, “KTR too has a mother. KTR should realise that Sonia Gandhi is mother to Telangana,” he said. AICC leader RC Khuntia said there is also no place for women in the KCR cabinet.
