JAGATSINGHPUR: At least 29 NCC cadets of Janata Nodal High School under Balikuda block were cheated after some unscrupulous locals in nexus with a teacher collected huge amount of money from students for attending a camp at Chandikhole in Jajpur district.

The incident came to light after the cadets reached Chandikhole and returned amid harassment recently. As per reports, though there was no letter from the NCC office regarding the camp to the school headmaster, some unscrupulous locals  contacted the teacher  and collected `350 from each cadet for attending the camp on June 5. The teacher, without the knowledge of the headmaster, sent the students to the NCC camp. He even produced a fake letter of recommendation with a forged signature of the headmaster.

Headmaster Niranjan Gochhayat said, “I have not received any letter from the NCC to send our cadets to attend camp. Without my knowledge, the teacher concerned had sent 29 cadets to attend the camp. We have also received allegations from the guardians of illegal collection of `350 from each cadet.”Meanwhile, District Education Officer (DEO) Prativa Manjari Das has issued a show cause notice to the teacher and said if he is found guilty, action will be taken against him.
