Khare inspects Sadar Hospital

Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nidhi Khare conducted inspection of Ranchi Sadar Hospital on Sunday. During the inspection, Khare ordered the officials there to increase the total number of beds from 200 to 250. The Principal Secretary also instructed the officials to expand the Eye Wing (ophthalmology dept.) of the hospital so that cataract operation here can be done on a regular basis besides making arrangements for the cornea transplantation. An order of establishing Centre for Thalassemia has been given to the officers concerned.

Apex Corporate Prog of CCL

The three-day (6th -8th July) Apex Corporate Programme for Senior Executives of CCL for self improvement, team building and mental harmony at Khelgoan Sports Complex, Hotwar, Ranchi concluded Sunday . The programme was organized on the initiative of CMD, CCL Gopal Singh, to horn the leadership qualities, encourage team bonding and to keep oneself calm and composed while facing day to day challenges among the senior executives.CMD Gopal Singh along with Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer and 22 General Managers(GMs), from CCL headquarters and command areas participated in the program under the guidance of Balvinder Chandok and Rohit Sikka from apex team of "Art of Living" Foundation, Bengaluru. The participants through various activities, quizzes, debate, presentation, audio-video aid learnt the importance of harnessing team bondage, self introspection, keeping calm and controlled mind, consistent performance, etc and ways to enhance it.

Hardcore naxal arrested in Giridih

Giridih SP Surendra Kumar Jha confirmed the arrest of Naxal commander Sona Ram Hembram, a member of the CPI (Maoist) from Satkatia forest area under Khukhra Police Station in the state’s Giridih district. 963 cartridges, 4 detonators, one SLR magazine, 2 wireless sets, one camera and naxal literatures were seized from his possession. According to police he was arrested on Saturday late night in a joint operation of the district police and the CRPF. At present, he was looking after his organisation’s affairs in Giridih, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara and Pakur districts, and had been recruiting youth into the organisation.

Woman crushed to death in Gomia

 Movement of vehicles between Gomia and Kathara was suspended for four hours on Sunday morning following a road accident at Gomia turning point in which a woman namely Tara Devi (60) was killed. According to reports Tara Devi wife of Tulsi Saw belonging to Gomia market area died on the spot while she was crossing the road at 6 am and was hit by a speedy truck. She died on the spot. The truck driver was caught by locals who handed him over to police. Rresidents blocked the Gomia-Kathara road for 5 hours.

 Elephant tramples one at Giridih

An elephant killed a villager Kartik Mahto(55) Sunday morning. According to police sources, Kartik woke up, hearing noise at the doorstep when he found an elephant at his door. The elephant chased him into an adjoining paddy field where it crushed him to death. Forest department officials reached the spot where the incident happened and paid Rs 50,000 of the family members of deceased. Bagodar police said the elephants often come down from the hills attracted by the smell of mahua, a fruit used to prepare country-made liquor, which is brewed by the villagers.
