Woman, daughter killed as wall collapses

A woman and her daughter were killed and two others of the family sustained critical injuries after a wall of their house collapsed at Densargi village under the Ainthapali police limits here late on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Chanchala Pradhan and her daughter Bhagya.

Sources said the incident occurred at around 1 am. While the mother-daughter duo was asleep, a portion of an adjoining under-construction house suddenly caved in on their house due to heavy rain.

While Chanchala died on the spot, her daughter succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital.

The family’s remaining two critically-injured persons were later admitted to hospital.  On receiving information, police reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.
