Ahmed Best thanks fans for support after opening up about suicidal thoughts

Ahmed Best, who voiced in the "Star Wars" franchise, has expressed gratitude to people for their "overwhelming" support after he revealed contemplating suicide in the past.

The received support from directors and as well as veterans like (who voices Yoda), after he opened up on his mental heattyh struggles.

Best took to to thank fans and well-wishers.

"Thank you all for your love and kindness. It's been overwhelming," he wrote.

"I'm gonna start writing this show. Gonna need help cause I've never done this before. I will be trying stuff out and posting it here. Let folks know. Thanks for all your support. It means so very much to me," he added.

Best had recently opened up about the backlash he received for playing in the franchise and had said he considered committing suicide after he faced resentment 20 years ago that "still affects my career today".

The had voiced the popular character in George Lucas' prequel series -- "The Phantom Menace", "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith".

Upon its debut, the character was ridiculed by fans. According to "Star Wars" cult followers, is considered one of the most hated characters in the history of the franchise.
