GURUGRAM: A nine-month
pregnant woman, who was undergoing treatment at the
Civil hospital, died on Monday. According to doctors, the 23-year-old woman was brought to the hospital on Sunday evening by her family members as she complained of breathlessness.
Her husband told doctors that the woman had consumed a glass of juice at home following which she started vomiting. After a while, she started feeling restless and was short of breathe, that is when the family rushed her to the hospital. Doctors said, the woman’s condition started deteriorating on Monday early morning. “A resident gynaecologist, accompanied by another physician and an anaesthesiologist tried to resuscitate the patient but she didn’t respond to the treatment,” said Dr Bhram Deep Sandhu, the acting PMO at the civil hospital.
“All efforts were made by the doctors on duty to save the woman and the child. The baby probably asphyxiated in the womb when efforts were being made to save the mother. It is a very unfortunate incident,” said a senior doctor of the hospital. According to the hospital authorities, the family did not want to file any case nor did they want any postmortem to be carried out on the woman. After clearing all formalities in the hospital they left for their native place, Etah in Uttar Pradesh.
“We will carry out a maternal death review of the case even though the family has not filed any complaints,” Dr Sandhu said.
