Young skaters from NCR and across north India took part in an open ice skating championship organised by the Ice Skating Association of India in Gurgaon. The championship was the culmination of a five-day camp held at the venue to train young figure skaters across three age groups. Over a dozen kids aged 10-16 took to the ice and displayed their finest figure skating moves at the competition.

The competitors were given a stipulated time during which they performed to music on the ice, combining dance and acrobatics with ice skating to impress the panel of judges from the Ice Skating Association of India. The contestants’ routines ranged from performances on the Frozen soundtrack to numbers with a Punjabi touch. At the conclusion of the competition, the contestants also demonstrated performances in pairs. Parri Srohi, a 14 year old from Delhi, who competed in the ‘Girls above 13 years’ category, said, “I am happy with how it went, but I feel I could have done better. I have been doing figure skating for only a year and I love it.”
