HYDERABAD: The rescue of a Mumbai-based aspiring movie artiste from a posh five star hotel in Banjara Hills on Saturday has turned to focus again on the dark underbelly of organised sex trade. Young and aspiring film artistes, especially in the Bhojpuri industry, were handpicked by the high profile prostitution organisers for a weekly work contract of Rs 1 lakh.
While the prime accused A Janardhan Rao(46) gathers profiles of upcoming actresses in Bollywood and Bhojpuri, his close aide B Prashanth books hotel rooms posing as a businessman. According to police, they were collecting Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 from clients. Rao is also said to have had an elite clientele of government officials, software engineers and businessmen.
Police say that Rao kept a database of actresses finding it hard to break into the industry and lured them with monetary offers. His mobile phone, which was examined by police, revealed contacts, photographs and videos of several small time actresses in Bollywood and Bhojpuri film industries.
After the raid from Radisson Blu Plaza on Saturday, police have served notices to star hotel managements asking them to take measures to prevent prostitution at their premises. Police are likely to take action against the hotel management.
