COIMBATORE: Karthik Tharani fought back from fourth place in the final race of the Euro JK18 on semi-wet track following heavy rain and overcast day at the Kari Motor Speedway added challenge to the contest on the Day 2 of Round 1 of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship here on Sunday.

Bryan Perera of Sri Lanka had won Race 2, which was pushed to Sunday following some technical glitch that was noticed just before the start of the race on Saturday. He continued to dominate by winning Race 3-top three position remained exactly same as Mumbai’s Nayan Chatterjee and Ashwin Datta of Chennai came in second and third.

But starting on a reverse grid in Race 4, Tharani took the charge and sped through the traffic and assumed lead midway through to take his second podium of the weekend even as Ashwin Datta staked claim for the top position with 24 points, upstaging Perera and Tharani who have accumulated 23 points. The Formula LGB 4 dished out one of the most interesting race with Delhi’s Rohit Khanna and Chennai’s Raghul Rangsamy winning one race each. Chennai’s Vishnu Prasad had won Race 1 on Saturday as LGB category produced three different winners in the three races.

Vishnu, however, is ahead in the championship after Round 1 with 22 points. Raghul and Rohit have 21 and 17 points respectively.
