Ludhiana: Health dept launches diarrhoea control drive

LUDHIANA: The health department on Monday launched the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight programme in Ludhiana under which the teams will distribute 5 lakh oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc tablets among the children upto the age of 5 years.
The drive was launched by Ludhiana Central MLA Surinder Kumar Dawar at the civil hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Dawar said that Mission Tandrust Punjab is the result of visionary thinking of Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to improve the state’s air, water quality, and safe food by ensuring healthy and congenial environment to the citizens of Punjab.

Meanwhile, giving more information about the program, district immunization officer (DIO) Dr Jasbir Singh said, “Each household having children aged five will be covered by the health workers, who will conduct house to house survey. Apart from the distributing the ORS packets and Zinc Tablets, the health teams will also give demonstrations into houses about how to prepare ORS solution and when it should be given to children.”
