Share market update: Auto stocks on upward trajectory; M&M, Tata Motors, Eicher Motors climb over 1%

NEW DELHI: Most auto stocks were on upward trajectory during afternoon trade on Monday.
The BSE Auto index was trading 1.01 per cent up at 24,950 around 02:15 pm.
Shares of Bharat Forge (up 3.31 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 2.50 per cent) and Exide Industries (up 1.87 per cent) were leading the pack among gainers.
Motherson Sumi Systems (up 1.54 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.50 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.42 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 1.10 per cent), Apollo Tyres (up 1.02 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.93 per cent) and MRF (up 0.90 per cent) too were among the gainers.
However, Balkrishna Industries (down 0.33 per cent) and Cummins India (down 0.30 per cent) were the losers in the index.
Market was in the positive territory on buying in metals, auto, IT and banking counters, amid firm Asian cues and a strengthening rupee.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 270.89 points at 35929, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 75 points at 10,848.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.
In the Sensex index, 26 stocks were advancing, while 5 were declining in trade.
YES Bank, Asian Paints and Axis Bank were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
