Australia, the Maldives, the US, New Zealand and Taiwan are among the emerging destinations for the Thai tourists. The Visa Global Travel Intentions Study 2017 looked at global travel trends and behavior of 17,500 global travelers from 27 countries.
The study said that although people are traveling more, the duration of those trips are getting shorter. The average length of staying for the Thai travelers while traveling abroad is five nights per trip. Nearly 50% of Thai tourists use roaming while in abroad.
The tourism industry of Thailand accounted for 18-19% of GDP in 2017. Tourism is expected to grow 7.4% this year.
Thailand is one of the most popular destinations for global travelers including those from Asia-Pacific. More and more Thai travelers now use technology for planning their trips and to find their destinations.
