LUCKNOW: Sleepless nights, discomfort, voltage fluctuations and frequent snags in
electrical equipments are just some of the problems which Lucknow residents are facing thanks to the rampant power cuts in the city.
Even as residents reel under intermittent power cuts, senior Lucknow electricity supply administration (Lesa) officials claim that the district gets over 1,200 megawatt of power which is highest among the 74 districts in the state.
The situation becomes worse in densely populated areas like Hazratganj, Khurramnagar, Nishatganj, Indiranagar, Alambagh, Kapoorthal and Charbagh.
Meanwhile, residents of areas like Aminabad, Kaiserbagh, Mahanagar, Gomtinagar, Munshipulia, Tedhipulia, Lalbagh, Thakurganj, Victoria Street, Mawwaiya and adjoining areas said that the timings of power cuts had been changed to afternoon hours Saturday onwards.
"We were getting ready for my cousin's engagement. The supply was disrupted around 4.30 pm and resumed by 7.30 pm. I called the Lesa helpline and they assured me that the problem would be fixed instantly, but nothing was done even after two hours of the call," said Nasir Azmi, a resident of Hazratganj.
Gyan Vaishnav, a resident of Meena Market in Indiranagar, said, "The power was cut at around 1am on Sunday and resumed by 3.15am but there were voltage fluctuations till 6am. The problem is now affecting our sleeping pattern. We have started sleeping in the morning."
