The police team probing the murder of Abhimanyu, an activist of the Student Federation of India, at the Ernakulam Maharaja’s College, on Monday recorded the arrest of one more person in connection with the case.
The arrested was identified as Anas, 37, of Mattancherry, who is the area president of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kochi. He is accused of harbouring the assailants who attacked the SFI activists, leading to Abhimanyu’s murder and involving in conspiracy.
The police had earlier recorded the arrest of Anas in connection with the violence during a High Court march in May last year. He will be produced before a magistrate on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the investigating team has collected details of a Social Democratic Party of India’s leader in Ernakulam, an acquitted person in the Muvattupuzha palm chopping case, for his alleged role in the murder operation.
