CHANDIGARH: An ambulance in
chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s cavalcade allegedly knocked down a resident of Jakhoda village near Aasoda on Saturday evening.
The doctors on board attended the person identified as Baljit Singh, a resident of Jakhoda village, and rushed him to
PGIMS, Rohtak, where he succumbed to injuries on Saturday night.
Based on a complaint lodged by Baljit’s first cousin Rajesh Kumar, police have booked the
ambulance driver in a case of rash and negligent driving causing death. The case was registered at Sadar police station of Bahadurgarh.
The incident occurred when CM Khattar was on his way to New Delhi by road. The ambulance which hit Baljit was of
Jhajjar district and had four doctors on board, including a surgeon, a physician and general doctors along with lab technicians.
Cops who attended to the victim in Rohtak confirmed that the ambulance was part of the CM’s convoy passing through Jhajjar district. An officer said preliminary investigations revealed that the ambulance had a gap of over 200 meters from the CM’s convoy. Thinking that the convoy had left, the victim was crossing the road when the ambulance being driven at high speed knocked him down, he said.
“We have booked the ambulance driver and appropriate action would be taken in the case,” said an official.
