Council formed to draft Vedic curriculum

The three day long International Gurkul Mahasammelan organised by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha concluded on Sunday with a unanimous decision on formation of a council which will work on the drafting of a Vedic curriculum. The council will be named Dayanand Vedic Parishad. Renowned scholars from across the country and Ministers participated in the congregation organised at Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalay premises.

Eminent scholar and veteran political journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik from Delhi said, “What is needed today is Vedic base with modern technology education. The foundation has to be of Vedic knowledge over which the building of modern technological education is made.” He , further , said that with the modern system of education, an army of copycats was being raised with there being no innovations. He said, “We are launching bullet train but that is from Japan, cars and information technology innovations are from China and other countries. Same condition prevails in the field of medicine. With the base of Vedic system, a new India will emerge. In the past, our Vaidyas used to go to Indonesia for performing ‘Shalya Chikitsa’ (surgery),” he said.

Acharya Balkrishna of Patanjali Yog Peeth assured financial assistance for spread of the Gurukul system of education. He said, “The brand Patanjali is the outcome of Gurukul education.” He said a time existed when Gurukul Khajjhar of Haryana was losing its grounds but today the curriculum of Gurukul has been implemented all over the state of Haryana. To further extend Vedic system of education, all Arya Samaj groups must unite, he added.

Governor of Bihar Satyapal Malik, MP from Haridwar Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and speaker of Vidhan Sabha Premchand Agarwal were also present during the valedictory function. Swami Agnivesh, Swami Pranavanand, legislator from Haridwar rural Swami Yateeshwaranand, Vitthal Rao and other eminent personalities were also among those present on the occasion.
