Burhan Wani’s death anniv: HM releases pictures of new recruits

Hizbul Mujahideen outfit released pictures of a dozen new recruits to its ranks on Burhan Wani’s second death anniversary on Sunday. They include brother of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 2012 batch who is posted in north-east.

Shamsul Haq Mengnoo, 25, a resident of south Kashmir’s Shopian, was pursuing bachelors in Unani medicine from a Government college in Srinagar. The picture of Haq wielding an assault rifle shows his date of joining militant ranks on May 25, 2018.  He has adopted nom de guire of Burhan Sani (Second Burhan). Haq is brother of Inamul Haq Mengnoo, a 2012 IPS officer. Mengnoos have come from affluent family of orchardists in the southern district. Over 50 youngsters have joined militant ranks this year, officials said.

They included an assistant professor at Kashmir University’s Sociology department Dr Rafi Bhat, who remained active for just 40 hours before he was killed in an encounter in Shopian area of south Kashmir.

A doctoral fellow in Aligarh Muslim University Mannan Wani is another highly qualified youngster who joined the militant ranks earlier this year.
