New Toyota Supra Teased In Production Form, Will Run Up Goodwood Hill

Just a few days ago, Toyota hinted that it’d showcase a prototype for the new Supra at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now with the event set to open in just a few more days, it’s confirmed the show car’s presence, and dropped another photo and additional details in the process.

Shown in the image above alongside the previous concept, the latest prototype is heavily camouflaged in a red, white, black, and grey camouflage wrap to disguise its form. But the overall shape can still be seen, and it looks slick.

And it won’t be sitting still on the Earl of March’s front lawn, either: it’ll be making the run up the hill, marking its dynamic debut. Inside the cockpit for the debut run will be the Supra’s chief engineer Testuya Tada and test driver Herwig Daenens, a Dutch racer with considerable ties to the Japanese automaker’s European motorsports program.

The manufacturer confirms that the new Supra will stay true to its heritage with a straight six mounted up front, driving the rear wheels. It’s slated to reach showrooms in the first half of next year.

Alongside the prototype, Toyota will showcase the previous GR Supra Racing Concept shown in Geneva this past March, together with the Yaris GRMN, the multiple rally-winning Yaris WRC, and the Le Mans-winning TS050 Hybrid LMP1 racer. All of which adds up to what should be a rather stellar display from the Japanese manufacturer as it ramps its performance and racing activities back up to their former glory.
