Anti-encroachment drive continues on Sunday

In pursuance of orders of the High Court, the exercise of demolition, identification of encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes and roads and sealing of illegal buildings in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration continued on Sunday.

The additional chief secretary Om Prakash informed that on Sunday under the anti-encroachment drive, 20 encroachments were demolished and 143 illegal encroachments were identified.

Till date, a total of 815 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 2569 encroachments have been identified and 75 buildings have been sealed in the anti-encroachment drive. 

The additional chief secretary further said that the work of demolishing encroachments, identification of encroachments on public land and sealing of buildings violating norms has been going on speedily.

The work of demolition, identification and sealing of buildings is being carried by anti-encroachment task force as per the rules. He said that some of the owners who had done encroachments are themselves demolishing the encroachments. He said that the action of lodging first information reports will be ensured against those persons who try to encroach again on the public land freed from encroachment during the drive. The authorities are receiving full support of the general public in the anti-encroachment drive, added the additional chief secretary.
