HYDERABAD: The action plan for
Telangana Ku Haritaharam (2018-19) was rolled out on Sunday with the government target to take up 40 lakh plantations in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (
GHMC) limits.
A total of 35 lakh seedlings have been proposed to be distributed to people free of cost in GHMC zones.
GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy instructed civic officials to plant the remaining 5 lakh saplings in open spaces, institutions, and also grave yards.
The civic body has raised 40 lakh seedlings in nurseries which include herbal, flowering, ornamental, shade.
“We have started distributing saplings and soon will start door to door to distribution,” said V Krishna, GHMC additional commissioner of urban biodiversity wing.

http://greenhyderabad.cgg.gov.in or call GHMC officials. The civic body urged companies to join this green programme, as part of their corporate social responsibility, by contributing tree guards.
“Interested agencies/persons may contribute for raising and adaptation of plants in select locations, stretches, institutions. They can also provide tree guards or watering vehicles,” GHMC said in a statement on Sunday.
While the civic body has decreased the number of saplings, in comparison with the previous years, it has increased the number of saplings planted by civic officials.
“The number of saplings is decided by the state committee, and it can cannot be attributed to budget or GHMC’s performance, the committee decides on lung spaces available in the city,” added V Krishna.
