Man held for fake CMRL website

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Chennai City police has arrested a resident of Kerala for operating a fake website of Chennai Metro Rail to cheat job aspirants.

The name of the accused was given as S. Sreejith, 34, of Malappuram district in Kerala. He was arrested by the CCB and produced before a judicial magistrate on Sunday. He was remanded in police custody. A senior officer said that the general manager of Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. had lodged a complaint that some persons had been running a fake website www.cmrlco.org. and were trying to cheat people by offering jobs in the Metro.

CMRL had cautioned people against paying money for jobs in the company after knowing that aspirants were being cheated.

During investigation, the Cyber Crime section of CCB found out that the fake website was run by Sreejith. The CCB police went to Kerala and arrested the accused.
