27.8L beneficiaries registered under SBB

Around 27.79 lakh beneficiaries have been registered under Saral Bijli Bill and Chief Minister's Power Bill Surcharge Waiver Scheme implemented from July 1 for registered labourers under Mukhyamantri Jan Kalayan (Sambal) Scheme. Among them, 10.69 lakh in Saral Bijli Bill Scheme and 17.09 lakh consumers under Chief Minister's Power Bill Surcharge Waiver Scheme have been registered so far. Camps are being held across the state for registration of beneficiaries.

As many as 3.96 lakh beneficiaries have been registered under Saral Bijli Bill scheme and 8.09 lakh electricity consumers under Chief Minister's Power Bill Surcharge Waiver Scheme have got registered in camps held in Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa region of eastern region power Distribution Company. In the central region power distribution company, 1.79 lakh under Saral Bijli Bill and 3.37 lakh beneficiaries under Chief Minister's Power Bill Surcharge Waiver Scheme have already got registered in camps Bhopal and Gwalior regions. A total of 4.93 lakh under 729 Saral Bijli Bill and 5.63 lakh consumers under Chief Minister's Power Bill Surcharge Waiver Scheme have been registered in camps in Indore and Ujjain region of Western Region Power Distribution Company.

There is no last date for participating in Saral Bijli Bill scheme. Action will continue to provide benefit to beneficiaries at distribution centres. Bill amount will be calculated on the basis of electricity consumption mentioned in the metre where they are installed. Bill amount will be calculated on the rate decided electricity regulatory commission on unmetered connections in rural areas. Consumers will have to pay only Rs 200 per month, remaining amount will be subsidised by the government.

Eligible families will be given free electricity connection facility without charge for connection.

Beneficiary will get benefit only for being a consumer. The eligibility for benefit will be given in case of member of the family or residing with them. Family member will be considered the one who is recorded in Samgra database.
