GURUGRAM: The MCG has written to the district administration expressing its inability to carry out a survey in the 300-metre radius of the IAF’s ammunition depot area.
MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav, in a letter to deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh, said, “The corporation does not have the requisite resources to compile these details of the buildings.”

The details sought by the district administration included type of buildings, number of storeys, flooring type among others to determine the compensation to be paid to those who own these properties within the 300-metre range of the ammunition depot.

“If the task is still given to the corporation, then it will have to engage some agency, expert in valuation and assessment of the buildings, through open tender process and require adequate time for completing the job. It is imperative here that the survey work would cost substantially to the corporation. And it may be clarified who would provide funds for making payments to the agency for this work,” the letter said.

Yadav further suggested that the public works department would be the right agency to carry out the survey.

TOI had reported that the MCG had submitted a report on the number of properties within the 300 metre range of the ammunition depot to the deputy commissioner.

However, the civic body officials claimed that the report was based on the property tax records.

The deputy commissioner, when approached for a comment, said that they have reverted to the corporation stating that it is their job to carry out the survey.

The letter states, “Since the matter of building enforcement relates to the municipal corporation, it is therefore the duty of the MCG to hire the requisite services of valuers and assessors by floating of open tender, if required. Further if the MCG requires any assistance in floating the above tender, thay can approach HSVP and DHBVN, who have been directed accordingly.” The letter further says that MCG has to bear the cost of the survey.
