GURUGRAM: Temperatures soared on Sunday to 39 degrees for the first time since start of
monsoon. Officials said fresh rains from Monday are likely to bring down the mercury.

Weather forecasting centre said that the city is likely to witness cloud formation on Monday which would lead to possible rain and
drizzle by the evening. “During the last few days the absence of rains and clear skies prompted rise in mercury,” officials said. First spell of monsoon rains had begun on June 28 , since then, the rains and north westerly winds have kept mercury between mid-30s.
The use of ACs also saw a rise during the last two days of the week. As per discom, the latest power demand in the city stood at 270 lakh units per day. Officials said a monsoon trough heading towards the plains from the north and would trigger light to moderate rainfall across large parts of Haryana, West UP, NCR and Rajasthan. The second spell of rains is likely bring respite from the heat. As per IMD, temperatures are likely to fall to 33 degrees this week . While officials are predicting a light rain on Monday, there would be continuous to moderate rainfall from Tuesday.
