Bengaluru: Infosys Foundation offers to gives Rs 200cr for Metro works

BENGALURU: Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said Infosys Foundation has offered to contribute Rs 200 crore for construction of the Konappana Agrahara Metro station (Electronics City) as well as for laying of railway tracks.

“A memorandum of understanding will be signed on July 19,” he said. The CM made this announcement after he met Sudha Murty, chairperson, Infosys Foundation, at his home office. He appreciated the Foundation’s initiative, while recalling its contribution to Kidwai Memorial Hospital and the education sector. He described Sudha Murty as an inspiration and role model for other companies.

After the railway station is constructed and railway track laid, the foundation will take care of maintenance for 30 years. Sudha Murty said contributing hard-earned money to the people’s cause gives immense pleasure. BMRCL had earmarked Rs 100 crore for construction of the Konappana Agrahara station which is between RV Road and Electronics City.

RV Road to Electronics City is part of the second phase of the 19.6km elevated Metro rail network being built at a cost of Rs 1,794 crore. It is expected to be completed by 2021.
