CBI files charge sheet against 5 accused in Unnao rape case

Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge-sheeted BJP MLA from Unnao, Kuldeep Sengar’s brother Atul Sengar and his four chums in connection with the murder of the Unnao rape victim’s father. 

The charge-sheet was submitted at the designated CBI court in Lucknow on Saturday, a day ahead of the completion of 90-days of arrest of the accused.

As per reports, Anil Kumar investigating the case of Unnao rape victim’s father’s murder, filed charge-sheet against Atul Sengar, Vinay Mishra aka Vineet, Virendra Singh aka Babuwa and Shashi Pratap Singh aka Suman Singh and Sonu. However, Kumar did not mention the name of another accused, Shailu in the chargesheet. The above were were found guilty of brutally assaulting the victim’s father leading to his death later in a hospital.

In her FIR lodged with Makhi police station, the rape victim’s mother accused Atul Singh Sengar of dragging her husband from their house till the MLA’s house, 100 metre away and later brutally beaten him with sticks and rods tying him with a tree. The family also handed over the victim’s blood soaked clothes to the CBI team which was sported by the victim during the time of attack. Interestingly, MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was arrested in the rape case, along with four others were also found guilty of planting a country made revolver in possession of the rape victim’s father, who later died. 

Besides, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, his aides Ram Saran Singh, Vinay Mishra aka Vineet, Virendra Singh aka Babuwa and Shashi Pratap Singh aka Suman Singh (also arrested in the rape case as well as in murder case) were chargesheeted. The above got a fake case registered against the rape victim’s father and showed recovery of arms from his possession. 

Tinku Singh was also arrested along with then Station Officer of Makhi police station (Unnao) Ashok Singh Bhadauriya and sub-inspector Kamta Prasad Singh. Some audio tapes of a conversation between the MLA and the victim’s uncle also revealed how the MLA was threatening him with dire consequences if the cases against him and his brother were not withdrawn.
