Nagpur: After incessant rains on Friday, there was ‘incessant downpour’ of songs on Saturday at Scientific Society Hall, in Laxmi Nagar. Sursargam and Swargandha jointly organized the music concert titled ‘Sangeet Sarita’ where a bouquet of amateur and seasoned singers presented power-packed performances of yesteryear’s songs.
The highlight of the evening was Puja Milmile, a 75% blind classical singer who enchanted the audience with each one of her performances. She started the concert on sweet tunes of ‘Sur niragas ho’ and her rendition of song ‘O sajna barkha bahar aai’ and ‘Aaj jane ki zidd na karo’ won rounds of cheer for an encore.

Duet songs ‘Tumse o haseena’, ‘Aake teri baahon mein’, ‘Chhup gaye sare nazare’ and ‘Aaja sanam madhur chandani mein hum’ struck a chord with the audience. ‘Mere mitwa mere meet’, ‘Sochenge tumhein pyaar’, ‘Tum agar saath dene ka wada karo’, ‘Dil ke jharokon se’, ‘Aane se uske aaye bahaar’ and ‘Keh doon tumhein’ were some other melodies by maestros like Shankar Jaikishan, OP Nayyar, Sahil Ludhianvi, SD Burman and RD Burman made the evening delightful.

Singer Jayraj Markand’s ‘Suhana safar aur ye mausam haseen’, Dr Sugandha Garve’s ‘Sapne suhane ladakpan ke’, Abhay Vyas’s ‘O haseena zulfon wali’, Neena Bagal’s Marathi song ‘Reshamachya redhani laal’ and Sangeeta Bhagat’s ‘Ye hai reshami zulfon ka’ were a few songs amongst many which were celebrated by the audience.

Other singers Sujata Patil, Narendra Balpande, Sanjay Patil, Manisha Andulkar, Surendra Sharma, Arun Ozarkar and Dhanraj Raut who gave various solo and duet performances displayed finesse in their skill and compelled the audience to sway their heads in sync.

The event was conceptualized by Arun Ozarkar and Sanjay Patil and was organized by Surendra Sharma and Jairaj Markand. It was compered by Manisha Andulkar who entertained people with her interesting insights.
