Woman walks into Secretariat with fake joining orders

In a bizarre incident, a woman walked into the Telangana State secretariat on Saturday evening with a joining order copy as a junior assistant in the Revenue department, ready to join duties.

HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a woman walked into the Telangana State secretariat on Saturday evening with a joining order copy as a junior assistant in the Revenue department, ready to join duties. The woman, Nagamani, carried an order copy with her that was purportedly signed by the Chief Minister’s Personal Secretary (PS) Rajashekar Reddy and approached officials of Revenue department.

Incidentally, the officials noticed the order was not issued by the department and directed her to the C - block in the Secretariat which houses CM’s office to meet the CM’s PS. To an utter shock, officials at C-block told her that the order was fake and she could have been cheated. The officials also immediately alerted the Saifabad police. A case of cheating and forgery has been registered and investigation is on.

Teams have been deputed to nab the accused, said Saifabad inspector S Venkat Reddy. Nagamani (28), a commerce graduate from Vijayawada, is a resident of Kukatpally. Through her mother, she came into contact with one Premsagar, who identified himself as a businessman and promised to help her get a government job.

The woman is currently working as a contract employee at the income tax Wing at GST Hyderabad Unit. From 2014 till recently, she had paid the suspect around `6 lakh. A few days ago, he handed him an order copy stating that she has been appointed as a junior assistant in the Revenue department and she had to report in the headquarters at Secretariat. As advised by a Purohit that Saturday was an auspicious time, she came to report, only to find her shock that she had been cheated.
