Nagpur: Candidates appearing for
UGC NET exam thanked the weather gods before entering the hall as a bright and sunny day ended all chances of a repeat of Friday’s heavy downpour. With some centres located in areas prone to waterlogging, CBSE officials and host schools were a worried lot.
A principal, who’s school was a centre for the exam, said, “It had started raining yesterday night and I was really worried on what will happen on Sunday. A couple of centres are in low lying areas and there were concerns raised about that in a meeting held on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully everything went off smoothly.”
Candidates also were happy as the question paper did not spring up any surprises. Manali Kulkarni, a candidate, said, “The exam was okay, so to say. Since there was no set portion for my speciality subject French, I didn’t have difficulty in solving the paper. I am a French teacher at a college in Bengaluru and will decide the further course of action after the results arrive.”
Rachna Pathak, another candidate, said, “First paper was tougher and lengthier for me than my Music subject paper, I found data collection problems a little difficult. I am a music teacher at a college and hope that results are in my favour and I rope in better job opportunities.”
Candidate Mohommad Iqbal Dharr, said, “My specialized subject was electronics science, and the second paper was a child’s play since I am a working professional in the field. First paper was a little lengthy. I thought and definitely felt a crunch of time. I was always attracted towards academics and hope to score enough marks to land my dream job.”
Vaishali Nandurkar, said, “I faced a lot of language problems while preparing since I couldn’t find appropriate study material in Marathi for my subject Women’s Study, so I found second paper a little difficult than the first. If I pass the exam, I will be a full time lecturer in the college where I’m currently a guest lecturer.”
