Yavatmal: Yavatmal Government Medical College (GMC) is flooded with patients suffering from diarrhoea. Most of the patients reside within the city limit.
The cause of spreading of diarrhoea is stated as the consumption of contaminated drinking water. According to the dean of GMC, Dr Manish Shrigirwar, over 350 patients have been admitted so far in the hospital with the symptoms of diarrhoea. The possibility of increase in the number of patients cannot be ruled out as there was acute drinking water problem in the city during the summer days and the residents were forced to drink the contaminated water which generally causes the disease.

“The patients are from city limit and the disease may hit other parts of the district shortly,” Shrigirwar said. He urged people to take necessary precautions and drink water only after boiling it.

MP of Yavatmal Bhavana Gawali visited the GMC on Saturday and inquired about the status of the patients. She also inquired about the precautions being taken by the administration to contain the spread of the disease during the monsoon season.
