A lecturer of a private engineering college and a bank employee were arrested for allegedly trying to extort money by posing as Maoists in Koraput district, the police said today.
The two men were arrested yesterday as they were trying to extort money from a senior staff of the engineering college at Phampuni under Jaypore sadar police station area.
While the lecturer has been identified as Santosh Swain, the other man as Amir Kumar Behera, the police said.
