KHAMMAM: Khammam reeled under incessant rain on Saturday and normal life stood disrupted as roads were inundated and people were forced to stay indoors. The heavy showers also affected the coal production in the area.

As rains continued to lash the city throughout the days, schools too remained closed. People could not step out even to purchase basic necessities.  Also, coal production came down drastically.  Rain water also entered the pumping well area, Disabled Colony and Danavaigudem in Khammam town leaving people stranded.

By evening, almost entire Khammam town was inundated with rain water mixed with sewerage. Agency areas were the worst hit by the monsoon rains as several tanks in these areas were reportedly overflowing. Several remote villages were cut-off from the other parts of the district.
