NEW DELHI: A 38-year-old man, who claimed to be a
Naga sadhu, has been arrested for allegedly stalking a 25-year-old advocate, police said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Ravi Giri Maharaj, was arrested on July 6 from Hari Har Ashram in central Delhi's Kamla Market, they added.
The woman approached the police on April 20 with her complaint that she was being harassed by the accused on Whatsapp, a senior police officer said.
Subsequently, a case was registered against the accused at Hauz the Qazi police station.
The woman's family came in contact with the accused at a religious ceremony. The accused promised her family that he would get a suitable match arranged for their daughter, he said.
He eventually started visiting their residence and also would often contacted her over phone and sent her vulgar messages on WhatsApp, the officer added.
It took the police over two-and-a half months to track the accused since he kept switching places, he said.
