HYDERABAD: In the election year, the state government has decided to provide financial assistance for self-employment schemes with 100 per cent subsidy without any bank linkage to the people belonging to Backward Classes (BCs). Those in hereditary caste professions will get the required financial assistance and a district-wise list of eligible persons will be prepared soon.
At a review on the welfare of the BCs and OBCs conducted at Pragathi Bhavan here on Saturday, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao issued instructions to officers concerned to take steps for strengthening the people belonging to Backward Classes economically.
“Financial assistance has to be extended towards investment support to those who are into hereditary professions for purchase of essential tools and those who are into small trades from among the backward classes. For this, the beneficiaries are to be identified village-wise. In every district, committees have to be formed with respective district collector as each committee’s chairman, BC welfare officer as convenor, and joint collector and project director of DRDA as members,” the CM told the officials.
Once the beneficiaries’ list is prepared, the identified BCs would get financial assistance. “There should not be any bank linkage in extending financial assistance. Funds allocated to BC welfare department and MBC Corporation are to be utilised for their purpose,” KCR said.
The government has initiated the process of implementation of several programmes for the development and welfare of backward classes in the state. Residential schools have been started on a large scale. From next year, in addition to the existing schools, 119 more residential schools will start functioning. Any unfilled seats in the minorities residential schools will also be allotted to backward classes students.
