CHENNAI : The Madras High Court has refused to restrain the Nellai Thoothukudi Nadar Mahimai Paripalana Sangam at Kottivakkam from enforcing an order dated October 2, 2017 suspending temporarily A M Vikramaraja from the sangam’s basic membership. Justice N Sathishkumar, who passed the rejection order while disposing a batch of original applications from Vikramaraja and others on June 28 last, also refused to stall the elections to the sangam.

Serious allegations of misappropriation had been raised and the matter is facing trial. An enquiry had been conducted and after perusing the committee report, the matter has also been placed before the disciplinary committee. Hence, the suspension order cannot be revoked, the judge said. “Merely because some of the members are suspended, the same itself cannot be a ground for stopping the election, at this stage. Therefore, this court is not willing to entertain the applications,” the judge said.
