Servitors of the 12th century Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, have opposed the entry of non-Hindus into the shrine suggested by the Supreme Court of India.

A 22-member servitors’ team accompanied by Maheswar Mohanty, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, and Pinaki Mishra, Member of Parliament of Puri, on Sunday, met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to apprise him about the situation. Recently, a Supreme Court Bench had asked the temple management to consider if non-Hindus can be allowed to enter the shrine. The court was hearing a petition that highlighted difficulties faced by visitors.
