HYDERABAD: A Professor working with the Physics department at JNTU-Hyderabad had allegedly assaulted a security guard at the campus, after the later objected to the professor's son parking his car in front of the building and suggesting him to park in the designated parking area.

The Professor Dr S Venkateshwar Rao along with his wife later forced the guard into the Principal's office, where the Professor slapped the guard with his chappal and thrashed him and later made him to apologize by holding the feet of the Professor.

The CCTV footages of the incident which happened on Saturday, went viral on social media.

The Guard Kasiramulu claimed that he had only asked the professor to move the car to the parking area, as the place would be blocking the path.

"He along with his wife abused me and then they took me inside where he assaulted me and forced me to hold his feet and apologize." said Kasiramulu.

JNTU Security Supervisor also said that Venkateswar Rao was a bad tempered person and had behaved rudely towards the staff in the past also. Though the issue was taken to the University management notice, nothing much happened on that and he continued to behave the same way. However, speaking to Express, Koteshwar Rao said the guard had in the first instance abused his wife and son in the name of the their caste, leaving many other cars in the area.

"There is no specific area for parking vehicles near Spandana Block. As I am a Dalit, I was targeted. When I questioned the guard, he told that he was told to speak to my family in an abusive way and apologized. But to bring it to the notice of the Principal, I took him inside, to which he himself apologized and requested to not make it an issue. Both of us got compromised, but people in the University who want to defame me and obstruct my growth, instigated him to dig it out again." said the Professor.

However, there is no complaint lodged with KPHB Police station, under whose jurisdiction JNTU- Hyderabad falls.
