PANCHKULA: A 20-year-old neighbour allegedly stabbed a woman after she refused to give him drinking
water at Rajiv Colony, near Sector 16, on Friday night. Sunny was arrested on Saturday and sent to judicial custody, police said.
According to police, Saroj, 30, in her complaint alleged she along with her two children was sleeping in her house, when Sunny knocked the door. She said he asked for water, which she refused by telling him that he was disturbing her and he could get water from a tap outside.
Saroj said Sunny started abusing her. She then told him to wait at the door while she goes to the kitchen to fetch him water. But Sunny followed her inside and allegedly stabbed her on the left side of her chest. Before fleeing, Sunny also threatened to kill her the next time he saw her, the complainant alleged.
Saroj was taken to
General Hospital, Sector 6. She is still under observation.
Assistant sub-inspector Balkar Singh, the investigating officer, said Sunny lives in the neighbourhood of the victim and used to frequently visit the family earlier, but later developed some enmity with them. Sunny was under the influence of liquor when he allegedly attacked the woman, he said. He was arrested on charges of attempt to murder and issuing threats.
