The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Eastern Zone, today arrested two persons from the city airport following seizure of 11 kg of ganja from their possession, a senior official said.
The incident took place at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport early this morning.
"The two persons, who were to take a flight to Port Blair, had kept the consignment in their hand baggage and the ganja was recovered when they were randomly checked by an intelligence team of CISF at the departure gate no. 3," the official said.
During spot interrogation, the duo revealed that the consignment had been procured from someone in Diamond Harbour of South 24 Parganas district and was being taken to Port Blair for local consumption, he said.
"Our investigation is on," he stated.
