The big win on the scoreboard not withstanding, the Red Sox suffered a big loss on Saturday night in Kansas City when catcher Christian Vazquez fractured his right pinkie finger while sliding into second base.


Manager Alex Cora told reporters after Boston's 15-4 thrashing of the Royals that there were X-rays taken, but more testing will be done in Boston. For now, Vazquez (.212, 3 home runs, 12 RBI) is headed for the disabled list.
