COIMBATORE: Eleven college students, caught in flash floods while bathing in the Bhavani river in nearby Mettupalayam, have been rescued, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred when students of a private engineering college went there on Saturday evening.

They did not notice that the water level had risen following rains and release of excess water from the Bhavani dam, and were trapped in flash floods, they said.

Unable to get to safety they contacted police for help, who in turn informed Fire and rescue department.
