ROHTAK: Breaking its silence for the first time after the CBI report named Jat leader Ashok Balhara and others in the case of arson at
finance minister Capt Abhimanyu’s residence, All India Jat Aarakshan Sangrash Samiti chief Yashpal Malik has said it was done at the behest of the BJP minister.
Addressing reporters on Saturday, Malik said the investigation agency played into the hands of Capt Abhimanyu while preparing the report related to the 2016 incident. He said this was an attempt of the government to weaken the agitation of community members fighting for reservation in state and Centre-level jobs in educational institutes.
Commenting on the addition of names, including that of Jat Samiti leader Balhara, he said the CBI deliberately tried to entangle them in legal hassles so that their efforts could be diverted from the stir. Announcing that the samiti would boycott political events of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and state BJP ministers from August 16, Malik said they were holding meetings to mobilise support. According to him, the Jat Samiti will play a key role in poll-bound
Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh assembly elections by raising the issue of hatred politics between Jats and non-Jats in
Haryana.
Balhara said he was unfazed with the mention of his name in the CBI report. He also said he believed that justice would be delivered to “innocent” persons named at the behest of politicians to settle scores.
