MUMBAI: Lifeguards rescued three persons who were drowning off Juhu beach on Sunday evening. The three were allegedly drunk and the Fire Brigade handed them to Santacruz police.
After four teenagers drowned off the same beach last week, the Fire Brigade has increased its presence. It had deployed additional lifeguards on the weekend.

A fire officer stated Kurla residents Pravin Bavankar (28), Digambar Jogdhankar (26) and Dattatray Sherkhane (30) came to the beach on Sunday evening.

They were in an inebriated condition and seeing them venture deeper into the waters, lifeguards warned them to come out. The three ignored repeated warnings.

Starting Sunday, lifeguards equipped with mega-phones have started issuing warnings to visitors.
