CHENNAI : Three members of Hanuman Sena were arrested for allegedly filing a false complaint that a car in which two of them were travelling were attacked by unidentified persons with petrol bombs at Sholavaram near here on Friday. Investigation revealed that the attack was staged with a view to seeking public attention.
On Friday around 2pm, two petrol bombs were claimed to be have been hurled at the car in which State secretary of the outfit Kali Kumar and district president Gnanasekaran were travelling. The members had told police that they were headed to Tiruvallur Collector’s office to submit a petition when some unknown persons threw petrol bombs at their vehicle.
“Since their statements were contradictory we took them for investigation and it was later found that they themselves had staged the attack to seek public attention and police protection.Subsequently, Kali Kumar, Gnanasekaran and his nephew Ranjith (24) who hurled the bombs were arrested,” said a senior police officer. The car was completely burnt.The three were later remanded to judicial custody.
