Two arrested after police break up 'hostile' crowd outside Perth party

A 16-year-old boy has been released into the care of his grandmother after he smashed a glass and tried to fight police officers at an out-of-control party on Saturday evening.

Police were called to Andell Place in Redcliffe at around 10pm to attend to reports from neighbours about a group of "noisy and disorderly" people in the street.

When officers arrived, they found about 40 people in the street and yard, yelling and swearing in front of a property.

A 35-year-old man threw a full can at officers, and narrowly missed them.

He was arrested.

However as officers were taking him into custody, the crowd became hostile and started to fight with officers.

Back-up officers were called, and they dispersed the aggressive crowd using personal protective equipment.

During the incident, a 16-year-old boy was arrested for smashing a glass and behaving aggressively towards officers.

He has since been released to his grandmother, and the 35-year-old man remains in custody.

Both will be charged with disorderly conduct.
