Youth run over by lorry on his birthday, dies

 The birthday celebrations of a youth aged 18 ended in tragedy on Saturday after a sand-laden lorry ran over him at Manali when he was on his way to visit a friend to give chocolates.

CHENNAI : The birthday celebrations of a youth aged 18 ended in tragedy on Saturday after a sand-laden lorry ran over him at Manali when he was on his way to visit a friend to give chocolates.
R Elango of Kodungaiyur, was on his way to visit a friend at Tiruvottriyur to give him chocolates when his bike was rammed from behind by the lorry which ran over him.Elango died on the spot. The lorry driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind, said a police official. The body was sent to Stanley government hospital. A search is on for the driver.

In another accident, S Padmanabhan, 33 from Mandaveli, a blacksmith, died when he lost control of the two-wheeler he was riding and hit a car parked on the roadside on St. Mary’s Road at Abhiramapuram on Saturday. He was not wearing a helmet and sustained head injury as he fell on the stones nearby. He was rushed to Government Royapettah hospital where he was declared ‘dead on arrival’, said a police official.

Unable to bear lover’s death, girl kills self
Chennai: A 21-year-old girl hanged herself on Friday unable to bear the death of her boyfriend following a seizure, in May. Police said N Ashwini (22) of Tiruvottriyur, was doing her second year graduation in law when she met Thennavan (24), who had finished automobile engineering and was attempting civil services exam.
