Elderly woman found 'safe and well' after going missing near Claremont

Police have found an elderly woman who went missing in Claremont on Sunday morning.

Jennifer, 71, was last seen at 10.45am near Christ Church Grammar School, on the corner of Stirling Highway and Queenslea Drive.

Police said she may have become disoriented, as she was not heard from when she went missing.

Just after 3pm, police confirmed they had located Jennifer and she was "safe and well".

The news comes just a day after police discovered a body believed to be that of missing man William Wayne, who had not been seen since Friday afternoon.

A Volunteer Marine Rescue Service boat found the body in the ocean about 3km off Hillarys on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Rod Hawkins thanked emergency service volunteers who helped scour the coastline between Mosman Park and City Beach on Saturday for their work during the search.

"We were all hoping to find Mr Wayne alive, however sadly this was not the way the search ended," he said. "It is a tragic outcome for Mr Wayne’s family and we are offering them the support they need.
