Gold prices end lower, but notch a modest gain for the week

Gold futures settled lower Friday, but managed to hold onto a slight gain for the week, as a mostly upbeat U.S. jobs report was seen as keeping the Federal Reserve on a path toward gradually higher interest rates. August gold fell $3, or 0.2%, to settle at $1,255.80 an ounce. It rose roughly 0.1% for the week.
